Kathmandu: The Nepali Congress (NC) has scheduled a performance committee meeting for Tuesday morning at the private residence of party president Sher Bahadur Deuba in Budhanilkantha. The meeting, set to begin at 9 am, will include current office bearers as well as former officials of the party.
Agenda: Gen-G Movement and State Repression
According to party sources, the meeting will primarily discuss the Gen-G protests and the government’s heavy-handed response on Monday. There is increasing pressure from within the party for the NC to take a serious and decisive stance on the issue.
Shiwakoti Calls for Strong Action
NC central committee member Ajayababu Shiwakoti has urged the party not to waste time in what he termed “level-level meetings”. He demanded that the party immediately recall its representatives from the coalition government, which he accused of being “drenched in blood.”
Shiwakoti also said that if President Deuba remains aligned with the current government, then ministers sent to the Council of Ministers from the camps of General Secretary Gagan Thapa and senior leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala should be forced to resign.
Call for Nationwide Unity
In his statement, Shiwakoti appealed to NC leaders, cadres, and well-wishers across the country to stand with ordinary citizens in the fight against corruption and misrule, both within the government and inside the party.
